Standby time is pushed to 300 hours. 2G talk time has gone from 8 hours to 10 hours of talk time. 3G talk time on other phones is only 3 to 3.5 hours, iPhone 3G goes to 5 hours – industry leading.

5-6 hours of browsing of high-speed browsing. 7 hours of video playback, audio is at 24 hours.

GPS – it’s going to be a really big deal on the iPhone 2.0 software. Location data from cell-phone towers, from Wi-Fi, and also from GPS! So GPS is real! But no mention of turn-by-turn sat nav capability – perhaps this will come with third party apps – we’re seeing GPS positioning on Google Maps, however.

3G and built-in GPS is available. No mention yet of video calling...

“Full Microsoft Exchange support, all the secure VPN and security standards, everything everyone has asked for built-in – and we got tremendous feedback from business users.”

“Third party apps, SDK, and the best way to distribute them in the world”.

“More countries. 6 countries today. We set ourselves a goal of 12 countries for the iPhone 3G – but we’ll be in 70 countries in the next several months”.

A video is playing of the countries the iPhone will be available in with “It’s a small world after all” playing as the music.

North America, South and Central America – 15 countries – Europe – 29 countries, Asia and Australia and NZ – 8 countries. African countries too – it’s unclear whether China and Russia are included in that mix, as their countries are not listed in ‘red’ on the ‘map’ of countries that will get the iPhone.

8GB iPhone started at $599. Then it was $399. The iPhone 3G 8GB will sell for $199 – half the price of the 2G iPhone. 16GB model will sell for $299. There’s also going to be a ‘white’ model as well as a black model. No 32GB model, sadly...

iPhone 3G will roll out at the same time on July 11 in 22 countries. The price will be the same in all countries – maximum US $199 or US $299! Not bad at all, everyone will be very impressed at the pricing.  A new ad is playing on screen.

Please read on to page 4 to see what happened at the beginning of the WWDC event.
