Forbes says 3G iPhone talk time “terrible” E-mail

Forbes Magazine had cleverly sent out its journalists to companies linked with Apple – Schenker Logistics, an Apple store, and Quanta, to see if anyone would talk about the 3G iPhone, or give the slightest clue about any of its details.

An Apple store employee had nothing to say, and couldn’t confirm if stacks of unopened boxes lay in wait at the back of the store.

The Schenker Logistics people – who handle logistics for Apple – had nothing to say either.

Then the trip to Quanta proved equally fruitless – until a persistent Forbes journalist managed to ask a Quanta employee walking back to his car whether he’d seen the new iPhone.

Yes, came the reply. Was it cool? Yes came the reply. But that was it.

Forbes Magazine had uncovered that practically no-one wanted to talk about the most talked about product in the history of Apple. Not pre-June 9, anyway.

No doubt, the people Forbes journalists were pestering would have been in fear of their jobs, or from a stern talking to from management, should anything come out that Steve Jobs would disapprove of.

So, no-one really said anything, save a Quanta employee who might have just said yes to get a Forbes reporter off their back.

Steve Jobs’ “one more thing” might be an incredible new battery that delivers talk time of 24 hours straight. But I doubt it. And now I know Forbes doesn’t know. And now you know that I don’t know either.

Oh Forbes. You bunch of scallywags, you. Just like me! Four sleeps to go. Four sleeps before we know.

Four sleeps before the 3G iPhone is launched in front of an impatient world. Four sleeps, at least four gazillion more pre-June 9 WWDC iPhone articles still to come, several from Forbes, and a few more from me!

May the iPhorce be with you. And may the 3G iPhone’s talk time ROCK!
