Intelligent Design vs John Lennon: I’m Angry and Confused E-mail
by David Heath

In the title of this piece, I referred to being “Angry and Confused.”  Here’s why.

Anyone who has followed my various ramblings and rants on ITWire will know that I am strongly in favour of the freeing up of copyright laws (look here and here for instance).  In that light, I’m all in favour of the use of the music.  It is legitimate fair use to make a social comment, in fact the re-use of such music can only serve to enhance the message.

This, dear reader, is my confusion.

While I support the use of the music in general, I’m angered by the specific use being made.  There’s the rub, as Shakespeare would have it.

Overall, I’m guided by Voltaire when he said “I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.”

But I’m still angry! (and I still have my appendix)
