3 Mobile gets iPhone; warning to Optus and Vodafone staff E-mail

Apparently O2 staff have been receiving an ‘up to’ 20% discount to buy iPhones, which have then been resold on eBay at prices higher than retail.

Contractor UK quoted an anonymous O2 insider telling UK newspaper the Mail on Sunday that: “O2 is cracking down on the practice in a sign that mobile firms are no longer prepared to turn a blind eye”.

“The iPhone is an iconic product for O2 and it makes sense to start there, but I predict that we will see this spread across the sector. The days when this kind of scam could be ignored are over”, continued the anonymous spokesperson.

Clearly this episode is a massive warning signal to Optus and Vodafone employees thinking of taking advantage of any similar discount scheme, only then to resell their discounted iPhones on the black market that eBay can be at times.

It's obvious that similar actions here by staff will likely result in Australian Vodafone and Optus staff quickly becoming... ex-staff.
