Page 1 of 2 You can see pictures at The Register and at Trusted Hardware, with the white Eee Box looking strikingly like the white Nintendo Wii. Asus have been talking about such a desktop model since the initial Eee PC launched late last year, but Trusted Reviews say they are first with ‘partial specs’ on what we can expect to see with a desktop Eee. Apparently, the Eee Box will have 2GB of RAM, a 160 GB hard drive and will come with the same Xandros Linux software found on today’s Eee Linux notebook PCs, along with all the other bundled software including Open Office, Firefox, Skype and more. Chances are the Eee Box will also be powered by an Intel Atom processor, but that’s not as yet confirmed. The UK is slated to get shipments of the Eee Box in Q3 2008 in white, but the black version is apparently in doubt. The Register says the Eee Box will also come with a slot loading DVD drive, like a Nintendo Wii, although The Register points out that despite the slated DVD drive, it’s not visible on the pictures. How much is it expected to cost? Please read on to page 2. |
