Another XP SP3 issue surfaces E-mail

Thankfully, HP owners weren’t left in the lurch for too long.

The company did release a patch to avoid the power management issue, but it must be installed before SP3 if it is to have any effect.

Fortunately, former Microsoft security specialist Jesper Johansson (if you get a chance to hear him speak, take it) has published instructions for restoring normal operation to a computer that has already fallen foul of the problem. You'll find them in his blog - scroll down until you see the red text that begins with "WARNING".

So far, these seem to be the only XP SP3 issues of any substance reported. For the sanity of XP users, let’s hope there aren’t any more lurking in the woodwork!
