Page 2 of 2 Being in business is about turning a profit, something Apple does very nicely, thank you. Rather than getting caught up in the high-volume, low-margin (and in some cases negative margin) part of the industry that saw IBM sell its PC business to Lenovo, Apple has largely focused on the part of the market that doesn't shop simply on price.
It's not as if Apple is only seeing success at retail: the company was the number one supplier of notebooks to the US higher education market last year.
