Sony Computer Entertainment has promoted Shuhei Yoshida to the role of president of Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios (SCE WWS).

Yoshida was previously senior vice president of the US studios.

He was one of the original members of the PlayStation business team, and has held a variety of positions since joining the company in 1993.

“Under the leadership of Yoshida, who has proven track record in managing creative talent, SCE WWS will accelerate the software development for the PlayStation 3 and PSP platforms and vigorously expand the gaming market," said Kazuo Hirai, president and group CEO, Sony Computer Entertainment.

Yoshida's predecessor was Phil Harrison, who resigned in February. The role has been temporarily filled by Hirai, in addition to performing his other duties.
