Page 3 of 3 Sensis reveals that further analysis of the mobile data unveils an “interesting insight into the eating habits and trends of the nation. When searching for a bite to eat, the majority of users don’t seem fussed about the cuisine, with 52 per cent of people searching for simply ‘restaurant’.”Sensis says that any mobile phone user can download the Yellow mobile application by visiting the Yellow Mobile website on their phones, (yellowmobile.yellow.com.au) or by sending the word “Mobile” by SMS to 0429 935 569 (with 935 569 naturally the key presses on a mobile phone keypad spelling out the word "yellow"). In terms of Sensis’ progress with an iPhone search application, despite Telstra not yet officially – nor unofficially – announcing any deal with Apple to sell the iPhone, unlike its local competitors Optus and Vodafone, a Sensis spokesperson said in a statement to iTWire that its “aim is to make our leading mobile applications available to everybody, regardless of what phone they have or what carrier they’re with.” The statement continues: “As a result, we actively plan and develop mobile applications for a wide range of new devices, including the iPhone, which is a great device, with some impressive capabilities. We have commenced building out mobile web properties and applications for the iPhone and other similar touch-screen and Ajax powered devices.” Sensis’s statement concludes: “In other markets we’ve seen big uplifts in the use of mobile applications by iPhone users and are expecting to see similar trends when it lands in Australia.”
