Outsider to lobby for OLPC Down Under E-mail

OLPC Australia still has no email contact details on its website; an email form is there and I used it to send the following questions to the organisation this afternoon:

1. It has been reported that one of your board members, Barry Vercoe, is coming to Australia next week to meet government reps at the 2008 Future Summit and try to organise a launch of the project at the summit. If this fails, what is plan B?

2. How much will you be selling the laptops for in Australia?

3. Will you be selling only laptops running Linux or will you also sell laptops running XP?

I got a one-line reply from Jeff Waugh which said: "Happy to work with any other journalist at iTWire." I remember George 'Dubya' Bush saying something on similar lines to veteran White House correspondent Helen Thomas.

(Update, May 8, 1000 AEST: The same three questions sent to the OLPC project in the US elicited the following reply:  "At this time, there are no plans to sell the XO laptops in Australia. OLPC is looking at the poorest nations in Asia Pacific.")

The last time when I wrote something about OLPC Australia, Jeff Waugh had this to say in the comments section: "I note that no attempt was made to gather any information from OLPC Australia before making these insinuations."

Let me leave it at that. You, gentle reader, be the judge.
