According to Sony, 5 million PS3’s have made homes in Europe "We are particularly proud of this as it has been achieved in a similar time frame as PlayStation 2 which retailed, if you remember, at a significantly lower price," Reeves said. Continuing his stat laden talk, Reeves touched on the following PlayStation brand numbers: 12 Million European PSP’s sold. 48 Million European PS2’s sold. 3.2 Million registered PlayStation Network users who have downloaded 57 million items from the PlayStation Store. EyeToy Games have topped 6.7 million with Buzz at 6 million and SingStar over 12 million sold. "These numbers are a testament to the strength of the PlayStation brand throughout our region, the ever-increasing number of titles being launched, the rich content on offer and its appeal to different demographics and cultures." Reeves said. When queried about how the PS3 had recovered from a slow start he indicated that it is all about "….the quality of the software. And now with exclusive titles such as Haze, LBP, Resistance, MotorStorm, customers are buying into PS3 as the ultimate gaming system." He could have added bundling of the latest Grand Theft Auto IV blockbuster surely has shifted PS3 hardware in Europe also. Expect global PlayStation hardware sales information as it is revealed next week in Tokyo.

@ Question Everything... I agree that the PS3 is too big... Like you, I want it smaller... a lot smaller... I won't buy a PS3 until they shrink it down to the size of a matchbox.

@ Circus. Your idea may have one itzy bitzy teenie weenie problem. The Blu-Ray disc won't fit into a matchbox!
Perhaps in your fantasy, they can shrink the Blu-Ray disc down to the size of a 5 cent piece, then you're set :-)

@ Question Everything & Circus, never mind shrinking it down - there's nothing wrong with its size - I'm holding out until the PS3 not only entertains but also achieves consciousness, becomes my soul mate, and helps me carry out my plans for world domination...
