JavaFX will start with a version for personal computers that allows the use of rich Internet applications (RIAs) within a browser or directly on the desktop. Versions running on mobile phones - including Google's Android - and TVs are expected in northern Spring 2009. Rich Green, Sun's executive vice president of software, showed JavaOne attendees a JavaFX application running on a PC and a mobile phone. "Java technology has evolved to be the most powerful, scalable and secure development platform for a broad range of enterprise and mobile applications," said Green.
