For gorsake, stop laughing, this is Linux! E-mail

Broadband deprivation, Vista, Linux, Telstra, Microsoft, Yahoo, iPhone, spambots, phishing, climate change ... It's all getting too much for me. Won't these technology issues ever go away!

Australians are rather well-known for taking a dim opinion on people and organisations that take things too seriously.

One of the best-known Australian cartoons is that penned in Smiths Weekly, 1933, by US expatriate Stan Cross: "For gorsake, stop laughing, this is serious!"

You can read about Stan Cross and view this outstanding cartoon at Wikipedia and at Australian political cartooning - a rich tradition and Wilson's Blogmanac amongst other places.

The National Library of Australia has an accessible range of Stan Cross cartoons, such as What are you doing with this copy of Shakespeare on top of the television set? ("Oh! It gives me something to think about whilst I'm looking at TV!").

So in view of the sometimes heated debates raging here at ITWire, and having recently stumbled upon Make Beliefs Comix (where you can roll your own cartoon masterpiece), I thought that I'd try my hand at it:

A very feeble attempt, huh? It's no real competition for Stan Cross's classic, is it?

Okay then, why not go to Make Beliefs and see if you can go one better. It won't be hard!
