Page 2 of 2 The plan, sayeth Microsft, is simple. At least this means that affected customers won’t have to suffer the horror of a Microsoft induced fault. Of course, there are no specifics on how long this will take, simply an assurance that: “Once filtering is in place, we expect to release Windows XP SP3 to the web.” Great. So, what about word on a fix to the problem? Well... can you believe it? Your employees have actually been working to try and fix the problem. They tell us that they are “testing a fix, and will make it available once that process is complete”. But we don’t know how long this fix will take. What, is it a state secret? Anyway, your employees tell us that once customers have installed the fix that you are providing, the availability date of which has not been announced, the good news is that: “Microsoft Dynamics RMS customers should be able to run both service packs.” Of course you’ll notice that’s not a “will be able to run both service packs”, but a “should be able to”. Talk about confidence! Until then, the best advice you can deliver to anxious Microsoft Dynamics RMS customers is “not [to] install either service pack”. Your employees also advise that “Microsoft Dynamics RMS customers running Windows XP SP3 or Windows Vista SP1 should contact Microsoft Customer Support Services for additional information.” What, like how long it will take to get the problem fixed? Why not just share it in your forum posting. Busy business people and IT people haven’t got time to waste on the phone waiting for someone to hear a message saying “your call is important to us, the next customer service representative will be with you soon, your call has advanced in the queue”. Or whatever your hold message says. Anyway... colour me non-surprised, Dear Microsoft. And, I still can’t install Vista SP1 on my own system, as the drivers that tripped it up still haven’t been fixed. Regards, and I hope you’re enjoying the picnic you’re obviously having over there, Alex. :-)
