Apple did once try to create its own console, called the Pippin, but it was a project that ultimately got shelved. Apple’s customers are either all about the digital lifestyle (photos, music, video, web, mail, Office work, etc) and a reliable computing environment that just works, or are professional creatives that design and create on the Mac platform. More games would always be welcome, but if you want the big bucks, today’s established and ultra successful gaming platforms offer developers far more bang for their investment buck. Apple could well be gearing up for an onslaught of gaming options... but I don’t think so. |
