A new push for Apple Mac Gaming? I don’t think so E-mail

Well, yes, I could easily be wrong, and Kingsley-Hughes could well be right.

As noted in his blog, gaming is a huge market. But with developer resources going into creating games for the Wii, Xbox 360, PS3, PS2, PSP, the DS and the PC, it’s no wonder that the Mac doesn’t get anywhere near as much gaming loving as consoles or PCs do.

Apple did once try to create its own console, called the Pippin, but it was a project that ultimately got shelved.

Apple’s customers are either all about the digital lifestyle (photos, music, video, web, mail, Office work, etc) and a reliable computing environment that just works, or are professional creatives that design and create on the Mac platform.

More games would always be welcome, but if you want the big bucks, today’s established and ultra successful gaming platforms offer developers far more bang for their investment buck.

Apple could well be gearing up for an onslaught of gaming options... but I don’t think so.
