This is the version of the iPhone software that will feature a third party software store, called the App Store, and which will also allow third party developers to create approved applications that can be either sold – or given away free – with 30% of any software sales going straight into Apple’s back pocket. Should any 3G iPhone be announced, the world is expecting that it will be a 3.5G HSDPA capable model, running on both the 850Mhz frequency – the one that AT&T is installing in the US – and also the 2100Mhz frequency, the 3.5G standard in use by many other telcos worldwide. But all this is, sadly, still speculation and rumour. June 9 is still at least six weeks away. It’s going to be the longest six weeks ever! |
