The original game, Condemned: Criminal Origins I will admit, I never got more than five minutes into. This was due to difficulty getting the game to run with any level of stability on my PC of the time and the pressing deadline of many other games stacking up on my desk. But after spending time with the sequel I believe I should dust off the original just to get a quick injection of more Condemned.. Back to this current incarnation however. Condemned 2: Bloodshot is a dirty, slimy, greasy and drunken venture into the dark side of humanity and the supernatural. It is a game of gritty, unrelenting in-your-face violence. The focus is on hand-to-hand combat with guns making a surprisingly unwelcome change to the dynamic about a third through the single player campaign. As the reluctantly returning agent Ethan Thomas, the player must battle a bewildering array of enemies, as well as himself. As a not-so recovering drunk, Thomas now relies on downing the odd shot of booze in order to have his nerves calm enough to shoot straight. An interesting game mechanic that is not too necessary, as most of the game plays out with either fists or whatever is at hand as a melee weapon. |
