Page 3 of 3 The not-so-final thing Wolfe wants is a scratch resistant screen. So, Alexander, what is the problem? The iPhone’s screen is very scratch resistant anyway, but I too have just purchased a stick-on screen protector, and have left it at that. They’re widely available and do a fantastic job. What more do you want? An even more scratch resistant screen than the iPhone already has will only add extra cost to the device. Wolfe says that he’s “just trying to fill out the list, because ‘4 Bad Things About The iPhone’ doesn't quite cut it”. Then Wolfe talks about a sixth issue, one that is a lot more relevant than his screen scratch non-issue. Wolfe complains the iPhone is too heavy. Wolfe strikes me as the kind of guy that would complain whatever the weight of the iPhone was. If the iPhone was super light, he’d quite possibly say ‘it doesn’t feel heavy enough’. I’m personally very happy with the weight of the iPhone, and wonder what magic Steve Jobs will pull to make the upcoming 3G iPhone either weigh the same, or even less, despite the fact it will have many more features. Wolfe even has a seventh complaint, which makes me wonder why he needed to make up the fifth screen complaint, which he admitted was a non-issue. He complains about the iPhone’s recessed headphone socket. Of course, there are third party connectors that let you use any headphones with the iPhone, and I have one of those. I do agree, however, that the socket could have been better – the headphone socket on the iPod Touch isn’t recessed and lets you use any headphones you want. The iPhone should have been the same, so I hope that Apple fixes this in the 3G iPhone. Wolfe then goes on to ask if readers agree with his five (read seven) flaws, and if he missed any. He even goes on to say that: “For the record, I'd like to stipulate that the purpose of this post isn't to bash Apple” and that he admires Steve Jobs. Well, Wolfie, you could have surprised me. For the record, the purpose of this article is to bash you for writing such a useless blog post this time around. I’ve read your articles before, and you often have really interesting stuff to say. But next time, when you review some technology, please try and do it when that technology is brand new, rather than a few short weeks before its replacement is about to hit the market. Thanks.
