So – according to Acer, the 18.4-inch panel IS a 1080p panel, will display content in 1080p through the panel and the NVIDIA graphics card.

When hooked up to an HDMI equipped plasma, LCD or other 1080p television that has HDCP compatibility (which all modern flat screen TVs should now all have had for some time now), full 1080p can also be enjoyed.

It’s a shame that incorrect information was released, as it has resulted in negative publicity that now has to be corrected, although as they say, there’s no such thing as bad publicity.

Also, Smarthouse has written a new article called 'When is a Blu-ray notebook not a Blu-ray notebook?' Smarthouse repeat the claim that the Acer Gemstone Blue is only 1080i, something that Acer has now categorically denied in a phone interview and a statement to iTWire.

The short answer the to Smarthouse article is that a Blu-ray notebook that can display - internally on the screen, and externally on HDCP compliant HDMI screens - at 1080p - is a Blu-ray notebook. Short and simple!

So, the 18.4-inch 8920G Gemstone Blue show can go on in full 1080p HD... and that’s show business!
