It retails now for AUD $2499, also comes with a Blu-ray drive as standard, and naturally is a bit smaller, which might suit some people better than the impressive 18.4-inch model, although the price difference is slight – only $200. It will certainly be interesting to see which model is more popular given the small price differential. Acer’s Henry Lee concludes, “Acer is merging design with high definition quality. We have addressed some of the aesthetic concerns that have been voiced by our users, and used these to enhance the overall design look and feel of the Gemstone Blue series.” So, is the Gemstone Blue for you? They’re pretty solid multimedia powerhouses with plenty of grunt, and both look worthy of inclusion on your short-list of entertainment notebooks to buy if you’re in the market for a new portable computer/entertainment powerhouse!
