Telstra has revamped its nowearetalking web site with the addition of a range of web 2.0 features to make it more interactive and customisable - and a more powerful weapon with which to sway public opinion in its favour.

In a video posted on the site to introduce the revamped version, Telstra group managing director public policy and communications, Phil Burgess, issued a call to action to Telstra staff, shareholders and any other supporters to use the new site to promote Telstra's position in the current debate.

"The future is not something that happens to us. The future is something that we make happen - and nowwearetalking is one of the ways that we do it," Burgess said. "So use it. Use nowwearetalking. Use it often. Use it thoughtfully. And people will be listening - people in Telstra, people in Canberra, people in our State capitals, people in the media, people around the country. People will hear your voice as you speak thoughtfully and in an informed way through nowwearetalking."

The site now features a user-customisable home page, the ability to attach one or more pre-defined tags to any content on the site and to save it for future reference. RSS feeds are more customisable and the new site makes much more extensive use of video.

The revamping of the site also marks the return as blogger of its former editor, Telstra PR executive Rod Bruem with all out attack on Opus under the headline "failure thy name is Optus. "
