A key feature of XenDesktop is that a fresh virtual system is provisioned each time a user logs in. This process gives users maximum performance, and allows the use of a single Windows image regardless of the mix of applications needed by different groups of users. Savings can also be made in other areas when desktop virtualisation is adopted. Beta tester BT Media and Broadcast Service reports a 50 percent reduction in energy usage. "Citrix XenDesktop addresses the critical requirements for effective desktop delivery: lower TCO, better security, proven reliability and a stellar user experience. This set of capabilities will enable enterprises around the world to more broadly adopt desktop Virtualisation as a strategic alternative to traditional desktop deployment," said Gordon Payne, senior vice president and general manager of Citrix's delivery systems division.
