Microsoft delivers RDC beta 3 after all E-mail

Users of Microsoft's Remote Desktop Connection 2 beta 2 for Mac OS X were discomforted when it expired before the final release arrived and the company told them not to expect a fresh beta. But that's all changed with the unexpected arrival of beta 3!

Beta 3 will last through to the release of the shipping version, asserted David Liu, program manager for Mac RDC. But wasn't beta 2 supposed to do that?

The bad news is that the release of RDC 2 has now been delayed until sometime during the northern summer rather than May as previously expected. But every cloud has a silver lining - Microsoft was planning to remove the ability to launch an RDC session by double-clicking on a corresponding document in order to meet the previous schedule, but user feedback has reversed that decision. It seems people find it just too useful to give up.

According to Liu, other improvements include full help, plus localisation for Dutch, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Spanish and Swedish.

RDC beta 3 can be downloaded from Microsoft's web site.
