Page 1 of 2 The update is said to include compatibility improvements with “certain titles”, without actually specifying which titles those are, and offers “additional support for network features”. Although the update will happen automatically for HD DVD add-on owners connected and signed into Xbox Live, there is also a manually downloadable update due to become available from a specific download area on Xbox.com “later this week”. One semi-comedian at Major Nelson’s blog lamented the fact the update wouldn’t magically transform the Xbox 360 HD DVD add-on into a Blu-ray player. Microsoft have come out several times this year to deny they are planning a Blu-ray add-on for the Xbox 360. Obviously ‘entertainment’ in this case refers to movies and TV shows, and not that other amazing form of entertainment called ‘games’, for Sony and Nintendo would certainly have something to say about that – Nintendo’s ‘virtual console’ selling game content is, after all, a form of ‘digital distribution of entertainment content’.
