Data centre and Internet exchange service provider Equinix has promoted former MD of the company's Australian operation Doug Oates to the new role of vice president of sales for Equinix Asia Pacific, with Darren Mann promoted to fill Oates' shoes.

Oates has been the managing director of Equinix Australia since 2000 and has over 30 years of experience in the telecommunications and IT industry.

Mann was most recently sales director at Equinix Australia. He joined the company in January 2001 as a senior account executive. Previously, he held sales and management roles at IHS AUstralia and in the retail sector.

"Doug and Darren have performed consistently in building Equinix's presence in Australia over the past seven years," said Samuel Lee, president of Equinix Asia Pacific.

"With growing local and regional demand, their new roles ensure that our customers continue to enjoy strong support for their business needs as we continue to expand in Asia Pacific."
