Seeing as the 3G iPhone’s release date is still naught but frenzied speculation, we’re happy to keeping adding some fuel to the fire.

Given that 5 megapixel cameras are the norm on several competing mobile phones, namely from Sony Ericsson, Nokia, LG and Samsung (no doubt amongst others), I sincerely hope the 3G iPhone offers at LEAST this feature too.

Not offering it would most certainly be weird – there’s no question that the iPhone’s operating system, OS X, can easily handle 5 megapixel photos and give users the choice of quickly compressing them down for emailing and/or MMS delivery (if Apple ever delivers MMS), or simply letting users email the full file size should they so desire.

Video recording capability. For crying out loud, can we please have this option? All decent competing phones can record video and even upload to YouTube or other video sites... it’s about time a 3G iPhone could do the same.

Some kind of bright LED flash to illuminate photos and give constant light to videos shot at night wouldn’t go astray, either.

GPS... GPS is such a no-brainer, and increasingly common on competing phones, that it would be crazy for Apple to tell us all to ‘get lost’ by not including one. GPS on the 3G iPhone: we’re definitely looking for you – if you’re left out, it’ll be a no-brainer that can only be explained by Steve Jobs having a brain explosion.

32GB of memory as standard. If you have a look at the supposed 3G iPhone back from that MobilitySite link on the previous page, it looks very much like an 8GB symbol is listed there.

8GB is still a massive amount of memory for most people, but power users would love to at least have the option of buying a 32GB iPhone, just as a 32GB iPod Touch is now available and has been for some time.

Heck – a 64GB iPhone and iPod Touch surely can’t be too far away, either.

What else? Well, any 3G iPhone should have a memory card socket so users can easily add more memory at will, but given Apple’s unwillingness to add memory card sockets in the past to any of their iPods, this one surely won’t happen.

It would be nice to have a new iPhone headset, one that comes with a volume control slider. Yes, I know the iPhone has external volume control buttons, criminally and stupidly missing from the iPod Touch, but it would still be nice to have it on the headset – plenty of other headsets have this as a standard feature, either through a slider or volume ‘up and down’ buttons.

Is there anything else that a 3G iPhone, in my humble estimation, should deliver? Please read onto page 3.
