Washington DC-based medical products company Parth has been in talks with the UQ scientists regarding potential applications for the technology in a range of products for the developing world, including a condom for women.

The team is working with TenasiTech Pty Ltd, a start-up company spun-off from UQ’s commercial vehicle UniQuest to raise capital to further develop products and bring them to market.

Due to the lack of a manufacturing industry in Australia, Dr Martin said that he anticipates that the technology will spawn a start-up company which is later bought by  a multinational organisation.

He recently returned from France where he is negotiating a partnership with a company that specialises in making concentrates, particles and additives.

Nanotechnology is a field of applied science and technology concerned with controlling matter on the atomic and molecular scale, usually from 1 to 100 nanometres. It is used in several industries from textiles, mining, cosmetics, medicine, building and others. A nanometre is one millionth of a millimetre.
