Xbox 360 sales languish in Japan and U.S E-mail

It is no surprise that the latest Japanese sales figures indicate the Microsoft game console is suffering, it has so since conception there, but the fact that in the U.S for the second month running, the Xbox 360, though chalking up some impressive sales figures, struggles against its Sony and Nintendo peers.

At this stage of the console war it is a struggle to understand if hardware sales are of much relevance, apart from fan-boy chest beating rights.

Each of the next-gen consoles has obtained an install base that should keep developers and publishers interested in producing game and download content with a certain bottom line return.

Still for the number crunching readers, the plight of the Microsoft Xbox 360 has always been fascinating in the Japanese homeland for rivals Sony and Nintendo.

And this trend continued this past week;
* Wii - 57,068
* PSP - 53,924
* Nintendo DS - 48,658
* PlayStation 3 - 21,008
* PlayStation 2 - 10,429
* Xbox 360 - 2,891

The PlayStation Portable continues its meteoritic rise in popularity overtaking the all conquering Nintendo handheld the DS.
