Another commenter states: “I was actually talking to my girlfriend the other day about why the sensis search engines are so crap, and figured it out as thus: So that they can continue to SELL ADVERTISING SPACE in the PRINTED VERSIONS- where they have a monopoly, and are smarting from the internet searches. If the YELLOWPAGES.COM.AU site worked as it should, they'f be no need for anyone to reach for the 'real' copies.”

The same comment continues: “An example for overseas users of how bad it it. Supposing I was to search for JOHNS FURNITURE COMPANY, I know the suburb its in and the state. No matter WHAT you put in, it'll always come back with the message "They are too many listing for that name..." so it lists EVERY SINGLE PHONE NUMBER that has JOHN, FURNITURE and COMPANY in their names. sometimes that's several pages until you get to the correct one. arghhhhh!”

Sensis has also suffered some bad press from local newspaper The Sydney Morning Herald, with an article called “Does White Pages search suck?” featuring an incredible 186 comments, virtually all of which seem to be, ah... without praise.

I know what the business analyst working on the iPhone search application can do once their 2-3 month contract is over - perhaps they can start working on improving the rest of Sensis’ search capabilities!

Update: In a new article we have been able to get a response from Sensis over claims their search experience is below par.
