Take-Two Interactive have announced financial results for the first fiscal quarter of 2008, amongst the information for the take over target were increased demand for Nintendo Wii products as well as confirmation of a sequel to BioShock, one of 2007’s most awarded games.

Despite take-over bids from the likes of giant Electronic Arts, as well as an increase in overall net loss, there were some gems to be gleaned from the latest Take-Two Interactive financial results.

Sales of games such as NBA 2k8, Carnival Games, Grand Theft Auto back catalogue including Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories in Japan as well as blockbuster BioShock led an increase in Distribution Revenue.

But overall revenue was down to AU$240.4 million compared to AU$277.3 million for the same quarter 2007.

Net loss for the first quarter wasAU$38.0 million or AU$0.52 per share, compared to a net loss of AU$21.5 million or AU$0.30 per share in the first quarter of fiscal 2007.

Demand for Wii based products according to Take-Two was robust, probably including titles such as RockStar Games Table Tennis for Wii.

The rest of 2008 and 2009 is looking good for Take-Two with the slated April 29th release of Grand Theft Auto IV along with the new announcement of a sequel to 2007’s BioShock.

BioShock 2 will be developed by 2K Marin and is slated for a Q4 2009 release.
