Lenovo’s new ‘ThinkPad X300’, code-named ‘Kodachi’ isn’t quite as slim as the MacBook Air, but comes packed with many more features – and still slips into that now famous ‘envelope’!

Looking for the slimmest modern Windows notebook with all the standard features you’d find on much thicker models?

Don’t look to the relatively feature-poor MacBook Air, but look to Lenovo’s feature-rich ThinkPad X300 instead, billed as “the thinnest, lightest ‘No Compromises’ ultraportable notebook PC in its class”.

Of course, Lenovo can’t claim it is the thinnest modern PC – that honour goes, without question to the MacBook Air, which can also run Windows XP or Vista if you want it to.

But Lenovo class it as more of a ‘consumer’ machine, while positioning their own X300 as being perfect for ‘boardroom warriors’ – and possibly also because only boardroom warriors will be able to afford the AUD $3999 price tag!

Naturally, it’s lightweight at 1.3 kilograms, something that goes up to 1.6 kilograms with additional batteries – still much lighter than many competing and much thicker models.

Lindsay Tobin, Lenovo’s Notebook man for Australia and New Zealand, said that: “The ThinkPad X300 notebook marks a major milestone for the Think family and for the entire PC industry”.

Tobin continued that: “We’ve been pioneering notebook design for more than 20 years, raising the bar on innovation, focusing on the core areas of the ThinkPad brand – quality, reliability and functionality. Adding the ThinkPad X300 notebook to our ultraportable lineup gives those who want the very best in portability and mobility a notebook without compromises.”

So, what are some of the X300’s many, many features, some of which put the MacBook Air to absolute shame, from long battery life to multiple USB ports? Please read onto page 2!
