Sadly, we’re not in the US, and thus not the recipient of any Apple invitations for the iPhone SDK. But luckily, the invitation has been reprinted across the Internet, with Macrumors publishing a copy of the entire invite – complete with RSVP address for invited journalists to respond to confirming their intention to attend. The invitation reads as follows: “iPhone Software Roadmap” “Please join us to learn about the iPhone software roadmap, including the iPhone SDK and some exciting new enterprise features. The event takes place at Apple, Building 4, Town Hall on March 6 at 10.00am. Registration begins at 9.00am. Arrive early for this invitation-only event”. Other sites that republished the interesting ‘road map’ graphic that Apple’s invitation displayed had the sense to chop off the above text part of the invitation, which also includes an RSVP email address that I haven’t reprinted. I’m sure Macrumors aren’t the only site to publish the entire invitation, but I’ll bet that Apple’s RSVP email inbox is being hammered by pranksters the world over, all wanting to ‘RSVP’ to attend the iPhone SDK event. What’s exciting about Apple’s announcement, aside from the fact that we will finally get some concrete details on the SDK, is that Apple looks to be moving towards taking the enterprise market more seriously, opening up the iPhone to becoming a true competitor to RIM and Windows Mobile 6 for corporations and businesses. So what might the enterprise features entail, and do we think the SDK will actually be released on March 6, or will there be yet another SDK delay? Please read onto page 2. |
