News of the 1.1.4 firmware came about a few weeks ago when Tiny-Code developer KellyTM played a joke on the iPhone community, pretending that he knew there really was a 1.1.4 firmware in the works. But now that the 1.1.4 firmware has been released, seemingly without any major new features, or at least none that Apple has publicly shared, perhaps Apple is just toying with us all for a bit of fun. You see, today is Tuesday 26th of February in US time, even though we’re already in Wednesday 27th down under. And Tuesdays are a special day for Apple, as ‘The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)’ has noted. At their site, they say in a recent article that: “Apple has been delivering at least one goody every single Tuesday since the start of the year. Of course, this Tuesday is the last one in February, which is quickly racing towards its leap-year enabled end”. Now Tuesday 26th 2008 was the day that Apple released multi-touch glidepad enabled MacBook Pros (but not for the upgraded MacBook), along with Intel Penryn chips, finally upgrading their more powerful portables with the latest Intel technology, which iTWire colleague Stephen Withers has covered . But today was also meant to be the day that Apple would launch the iPhone SDK, and clearly, unless something will happen tonight, Tuesday the 26th of February 2008 is not SDK day. A commenter at another site noted that perhaps Apple will break with tradition and launch the SDK on the 29th of February, that cool little leap-year day that comes but once every four years. That could well be the case. Or perhaps the SDK has been delayed as predicted by BusinessWeek. Without word from Apple, we just don’t know. And without word from Apple on what updates are in the iPhone and iPod Touch new 1.1.4 firmware, other than ‘bug fixes’, we need to rely on what the Appe iGadget owning public have discovered... so let’s find out, on page 2!
