Page 1 of 3 The last time we heard about supposed new firmware was over the last couple of weeks, when 1.1.4 firmware was talked about on a single developer website, who subsequently admitted the whole thing was just a joke and a ‘lie’. So naturally, rumours of a new firmware version are immediately met with suspicion – are we all being taken for a ride again? Well... it doesn’t really matter that much, the rumour is out and people are talking about it, and if even only one of the things being rumoured actually comes true in the next firmware release, it’ll be a good thing! That said, as you’ll see on page 2 when we go through the details of what’s new, there are reasons to be suspicious that our collective legs are being pulled. The fact that the iPhone SDK (software development kit) to allow developers to create authorised third party apps is due in the next few days can’t be denied, as Steve Jobs himself said it would happen in February, and it’s nearly over. Were a new firmware version with spectacular new features to be launched, it would be brilliant timing, guaranteeing Apple even more publicity than it would already receive. So, what does the new rumour have in store for iPhone firmware 2.0? Please read onto page 2... |
