Apple launches 2GB iPod Shuffle, lowers 1GB's price E-mail

The design of the iPod Shuffle is otherwise unchanged, remaining “half a cubic inch in volume” (metric measurements are 27.3mm x 41.2mm), weighing “just half an ounce” (or 15.6 grams), featuring the same aluminium design with a built-in clip and comes in the same five colors—silver, blue, green, purple and that (PRODUCT) RED special edition which comes in... red.

The current Australian price for the 1GB iPod Shuffle was listed at AUD $99, with local Apple representatives (at the time of publication) yet to inform the Australian media of the new developments, the pricing or the new model’s availability, but this is likely to happen in the next few hours.

Our guess is that the new 2GB model will probably retail for AUD $99, with the 1GB iPod Shuffle priced at least AUD $20 lower, with the same kind of availability timeframes, and we will update this article with the relevant local information when it becomes available.

UPDATE: As expected, the Australian prices have come through this morning, and Apple have done better than I expected. The 1GB Shuffle now retails for AUD $65, while the 2GB Shuffle retails for AUD $89.
