The space shuttle Endeavour reached the launch pad on Monday, and a dress rehearsal for launch is scheduled for this weekend.

The actual launch is set for March 11, and the primary goals of mission STS-123 are the delivery of the first section of the Japanese Kibo laboratory and the Canadian Dextre two-armed robotic system.

Five spacewalks are planned to install the new hardware.

"This is the first flight where we actually have all the partners," said Dana Weigel, the lead station flight director.

"It's not just 'a Japanese flight, or 'a Canadian flight. This flight truly is the first time that it requires every single partner actively participating to make everything work. I think that’s a great milestone."

Atlantis will also ferry Garrett Reisman to the International Space Station and bring current crew member Leopold Eyharts back to Earth.

Other members of the STS-123 crew are mission commander Dominic Gorie, pilot Gregory Johnson, Robert Behnken, Mike Foreman, Rick Linnehan, and Japanese astronaut Takao Doi.
