Unwired Australia has formed a partnership with VoIP service provider Freshtel under which Unwired will promote the Freshtel VoIP service on its website and its in-store product packaging

From 22 August, Unwired's website will point customers to the Freshtel site to download Freshtel's free VoIP software. They will also be able to redeem a $10 call credit from the Unwired 'my account' section. Packaging on Unwired boxes in "select retail stores" will contain flyers and box stickers outlining the deal. Customers will be able to pay for the Freshtel service when they make their monthly payment for their Unwired service.

The move follows Unwired late last year scrapping plans for its own VoIP offering which would have used dedicated capacity on the Unwired radio link.
