IP provider IntraPower has acquired IPsX, a Melbourne-based virtual network operator.

The deal enlarges IntraPower's base in Melbourne, and will be used as a springboard for expansion into South Australia, Tasmania and Western Australia.

"National expansion is a strategic priority for IntraPower," said group CEO and managing director Greg Kennish.

IPsX's executive management team - including managing director Edwin Allen - will join IntraPower and take on regional roles.

The $A2.3 million purchase comprised $A1.725 in cash plus approximately 575,000 shares.
