Play.com launches DRM-free music in the UK before Amazon E-mail

Most mp3 players are compatible with Windows Media Player, which consumers can use to organise their music, but despite attempts at making Windows Media Player easier to use, it’s still, in my estimation at least, not as simple or smooth an experience as iTunes.

So, Amazon is yet to enter the UK music market with DRM-free tracks, but there can be no doubt they’re scheming to do just that – and not just with one music label, but the lot of them, just as they have done in the US.

The snowball effect of the DRM-free movement can no longer be stopped, no matter what anyone does – all we’re waiting for now is for DRM-free to make the move to the movie world. Can it be long now?
