5 Best Practices for Smartphone Support
It’s in this space that i-mate, the self-styled “global specialist in Microsoft devices and software applications” has worked in since 2001, and at the 3GSM World Congress in Barcelona, they launched two new feature packed Windows Mobile 6 smartphones, the i-mate Ultimate 8502 and the Ultimate 9502. i-mate have teamed with Australia’s dominant telco, Telstra, to exclusively launch their two new smartphones in the Australian marketplace before launching them to consumers in any other part of the world, besides the 3GSM World Congress product launch, of course, with Telstra set to be their exclusive Australian carrier. i-mate say this builds upon their existing five-year partnership with Telstra, after having already launched 10 previous models on the Telstra network in that timeframe. Running on the Windows Mobile 6 platform, i-mate say that both the Ultimate 8502 and Ultimate 9502 are feature packed and “house a very similar advanced feature set including Direct Video Out so you can connect to a digital projector or TV to run presentations and video calls, Custom i-Q so you can define your personal settings quickly and easily, and Secure i-Q to remotely lock and wipe the Ultimate device if it’s ever lost or stolen”. Although not specifically mentioned in the press release, the Ultimate 9502 also comes with a built-in GPS module, although whether or not this is in the 8502, and whether or not GPS navigation software is also included with either smartphone is, as yet, unknown. They both also come with features such as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, with the 9502 coming with a slide-up screen, a backlit keyboard, a 3.2 megapixal digital camera and a flash, among a range of other WM6 features as standard. CEO and Founder of i-mate Jim Morrison said: “We don’t believe that one size fits all. We offer a full range of superior Windows Mobile powered devices. We then customise these devices to suit the unique requirements of individual customers. Add to that our range of innovative and free i-Q solutions, together with our extensive support and you have an exceptional total solution that’s hard to beat.” Both Ultimate i-mates are the fastest HSDPA and HSUPA devices on the Telstra Next G network - but just how fast are they really?
