Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak will be the keynote speaker at a conference in Sydney in March, on broadband in Australia and the region.
The conference, 'Broadband and Beyond 2008" is being organized by Communications Alliance, Australia's peak telecommunications industry body and Telstra Wholesale.

According to Comms Alliance CEO, Anne Hurley Wozniak "will lead an array of significant contributions from international and local speakers who will explore the business opportunities that high-speed broadband is creating." She said the conference would look at "what convergence will deliver and who benefits; how high bandwidth helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions and how broadband is creating new business alliances."

Other speakers include, Dennis Muscat senior vice president of South Asia, PacNet (the company formed by the recent merger of Asia Netcom and Pacific Internet); Jack Matthews CEO of Fairfax Digital; Nigel Dews CEO of Hutchison Telecom; Shirley Lue Arnold, non-executive chairman of Telkom South Africa; Didier Dillard head of domestic wholesale at France Telecom; Mark Scott, managing director of the ABC; Berit Svendsen, vice president and head, Nordic Fixed at Telenor, Norway; Stefan Gustafsson - VP global sales & marketing, Packetfront, Sweden; Annikki Schaerferdiek, vice president, marketing & strategy, multimedia division, Ericsson, Sweden.
