Vista SP1 arrives at last - with a March download date! E-mail

Undoubtedly leaks of the final versions of each package will appear on illegal file sharing networks and bit torrent sites, but only the brave or those willing to break copyright laws will seek Microsoft’s latest this way.

Certainly in the case of Vista SP1, downloading it through Microsoft is the only sane way of getting the update, no matter how much you might want it beforehand, as any file that has passed through a file sharing network is automatically suspect.

So, Microsoft has finally launched SP1, Windows Server 2008 and more – products which will no doubt help fund the acquisition of Yahoo should the regulators in the US and the EU approve the merger.

The only real disappointment? Announcing a product ‘today’, but making everyday consumers wait yet another month to get it!

But even so, SP1 has ‘officially launched’, deflecting some of the attention away from the proposed Microsoft/Yahoo merger, and back to where it belongs: the quality (or otherwise) of Microsoft’s software.
