The Australian Computer Society has appointed Kim Denham as its chief executive officer.

National president Kumar Parakala said her experience across a range of executive roles and ICT disciplines will be of enormous benefit to the Society, and described Denham as "an outstanding ICT ambassador and a potential role model for ICT professionals, particularly for women in the sector."

Denham is the first woman to be appointed to the position.

Her 20 year ICT career includes management roles at Ericsson Australia, West Australian Newspapers, Tourism Western Australia and CSBP Limited. Denham has been an active member of the ACS, ATUG and other industry bodies.

Sam Burrell, who has been acting CEO for several months since the retirement of Dennis Furini, will return to his substantive position as general manager when Denham takes up her new job in February.
