NetApp's acquisition of storage software vendor Onaro has gone through in double-quick time.

Originally slated for completion by the end of March, the deal announced on January 3 has already been finalised.

The addition of Onaro's software to NetApp's lineup will provide customers with the ability to plan and manage storage capacity and service levels in multi-vendor environment, company officials said.

When the acquisition was first announced, NetApp's executive vice president of product operations Tom Georgens said policy-based storage management software would allow those responsible for data centre management to commit to the service levels required by their businesses.

The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
