Microsoft Australia have shared some facts and figures around the Xbox 360’s performance during 2007.

Some 2007 points have been revealed by the Australian arm of Microsoft today.  It points to the highlights of consumer activity for the Xbox 360 in this country.

In bullet point form they are;

*         In 2007, Australian consumers spent more money on Xbox 360 products – including hardware, software and accessories – than on any other next-generation platform

*         Australians also purchased more units of Xbox 360 products – including hardware, software and accessories – than for any other next-generation platform

*         Third-party publishers sold more software on Xbox 360 than on both other next-generation platforms combined

*         The best-selling game across all console formats during 2007 was Halo 3, selling over 120,000 copies

*         The best-selling Xbox 360 games during 2007 were “Halo 3”, “Call of Duty 4”, “Assassin’s Creed”, “Gears of War” and “Forza Motorsport 2”

*         2007 also saw the successful launch of new Xbox 360 family titles “Scene it? Lights, Camera, Action”, “Guitar Hero 3”, “Viva Piñata: Party Animals”, and “Dance Dance Revolution”

*         Life-to-date Xbox 360 has now sold over:
  •       306,000 consoles
  •       2 million games
  •       520,000 accessories

Generally speaking Microsoft would be happy with metrics such as the software attach rate for the Xbox 360, meaning that the library line-up is strong.

The Xbox 360 figures did rely heavily on the Halo 3 and Gears of War exclusives, but even so, the fact that more software than both PS3 and Wii combined made there way to Xbox 360 households is something that would not go unnoticed by game publishers.
