Safety recall on Eaton UPSes E-mail

Two models of Eaton branded uninterruptible power supplies have been recalled due to a safety issue.

The recall covers Eaton Powerware 3105 and 5110 series UPSes sold during 2007.

More specifically, the recalled units have model numbers 31050350A, 31050500A, 31050700A, 51100350A, 51100500A, 51100700A, 51101000A, 51101500A, and serial numbers JA231A0000 - JA416A9999 and JZ231A0000 - JZ416A9999 inclusive.

The problem is that a rack in the socket backing plate can cause poor retention of the UPS outlet socket contacts and loss of earthing continuity to Class 1 equipment plugged into the UPS. According to the recall notice, these units should be taken out of use immediately.

Eaton or the individual supplier will provide a free replacement on return of the old one. Further information is available on 1300 880 366 between 9am and 5pm EST, Monday to Friday.
