Collaboration application services specialist WebEx, now a Cisco subsidiary, has added Mac support to PCNow, its on-demand remote access service for PCs and wireless devices.
The announcement, at MacWorld in San Francisco, follows recent comments by Cisco that it believes the Mac is poised to significantly increase its penetration of the enterprise IT market. Announcing the PCNow upgrade, Jack Chawla, director of product management at Cisco WebEx, described the move as "a significant step in providing Mac users easier integration into the enterprise."

WebEx claims that PCNow is the first remote-access solution to support both PC-to-PC and phone-to-PC access. The new version also provides cross-platform support including PC-to-Mac, Mac-to-PC and Mac-to-Mac and, WebEx claims, is "designed to deliver the same experience as working on one's own computer...WebEx PCNow provides an easy-to-use, highly secure connection from any computer via any Internet connection delivering the capability to do desktop searches, find contacts, use the calendar, work on documents and send and receive e-mail."

Mac users can register for a free 30-day trial at www.webex.com/go/macworld . Thereafter pricing, in the US, will be $US10.35 per month.
