Most commonly used is the free version that adds WMV playback capability to QuickTime. The release of version 2.2 has been awaited since the arrival of Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard, but it also brings compatibility with a wider variety of web sites delivering video content thanks in part to a new JavaScript browser plugin. Improvements to the paid versions that also allow export include up to five times faster encoding on Intel-based Macs, improved video quality when using two-pass VBR encoding, and the ability to generate Silverlight applications. |
