Still the software, including new Intellectual Properties this year has been amazing, from the wonderfully addictive, in small daily doses Brain Training to the powerhouse that is Call of Duty 4:Modern Warfare .  Throw in innovation such as Drawn to Life and Hotel Dusk:Room 215 on DS, Super Paper Mario , Wii Fit , Super Mario Galaxy and Metroid Prime: Corruption (along with many more on the Wii), Halo 3, BioShock,  Final Fantasy XII, Okami, The Orange Box, Mass Effect, Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2, Uncharted:Drake’s Fortune on other platforms and you have many hours of quality gaming from 2007.

Despite flaws, games such as Assassin’s Creed , S.T.A.L.K.E.R Shadow of Chernobyl, Medal of Honor:Airbourne, LAIR, WarHawk and Fury all had a flag to place in 2007’s gaming history.

For me, it was a matter of which way to turn during 2007.  Constantly bounding from PS3, to Xbox 360, to Wii and PC depending on the situation, and with games such as Final Fantasy, SingStar’s, Buzz quizzing and Rogue Galaxy still keeping the PS2 warm.

It was a great year in gaming, with the promise of the industry further maturing with online content and even more sophisticated titles set to launch during next year – GTA4 is looking the goods right now.

And judging by the popularity around a possible Gears of War 2 slipping into the schedule in 2008, looks like the hardcore gamers are here to stay.

As to the original question, 2007; Best gaming year ever?  Well ’79 was pretty good, I did not get much Vitamin D between 81 and 84 and 1998 was also a cracker.  So no probably not, but it was up there.

From me to the iTWire readers and staff, thank you very much for my first year here, the support and critiques have all been welcome.  All the best for the New Year, may 2008 bring you all you are after, hope to meet you online somewhere, and blast you away 8-) .
