Communications hardware specialist NetComm has secured a three year distribution deal for Africa with a $US1 million minimum buy during the first 12 months.

South Africa-based Space Television will handle the complete NetComm range for the entire continent.

"We were looking for a vendor partner who would offer us a high level of support as well as a wide breadth of product; especially in the hospitality sector, which is a key market we already serve," said Wayne Voigt, director of Space Television.

"We saw that NetComm was more than just a DSL modem vendor. For us product consistency, quality, support levels and reputation are all key and these are areas where NetComm impressed us."

NetComm's range of DSL equipment includes devices aimed at the hospitality and related sectors, such as the NCT480 48 port IP DSLAM and the NCT1000 Micro IP DSLAM handling between 24 and 288 ports.

"The Space Television agreement is the first to sign of multiple opportunities that we have identified in this region," said NetComm managing director David Stewart.

"We would like to also acknowledge the kind assistance of Austrade and NSW Department of State and Regional Development in helping NetComm expand its markets."
